Hi there, I'm Jay!

I’m a sports photographer based in Seattle with a deep love for the badminton and the people who play it!
Where it all started
My journey started in 2018 at the University of Washington’s Husky Badminton Club, where I first discovered the joy of badminton and the power of community. It was there, during the annual Husky Open tournament, that I decided to photograph my friends competing. What began as a way to pass the time at hours-long tournaments quickly grew into something more meaningful.
What drives me
Since 2021, I’ve been photographing badminton tournaments in the Greater Seattle area, with a focus on highlighting the energy, grit, and emotion that make badminton so special. Along the way, I’ve had the chance to meet and photograph players from all over the world, many of whom I wouldn’t otherwise have had the opportunity to play with or even meet.
My values as a photographer
At the heart of my work is the belief that every player, regardless of age, level, or background, deserves to be seen in their most competitive, passionate moments. Whether it's your first tournament or your twentieth, there's something powerful about seeing yourself in action.
Me as a badminton player
When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll probably find me on the badminton courts. I play regularly in the Seattle area and lead the badminton club at my corporate job, keeping my love for the game alive both in and out of the office. When I'm off the courts resting, you can find me repurposing used badminton shuttlecocks into crochet keychains!
